What is the most special event in Baltimore this summer? Well, it’s HonFest of course! A street festival like no other, HonFest celebrates Baltimore’s unique and wonderful character. Don’t miss out!

A LITTLE HISTORY

“Hon” is a colloquialism used around Baltimore that you have most likely heard if you have gone anywhere from a local dinner to a fancy restaurant. Short for “honey”, this classic term of endearment in Baltimore has been celebrated for generations and brings with it a spirit of warmth, compassion, and affection.

Since its start in 1994, the HonFest has grown from being a small pageant behind Cafe Hon that recognized the best sixties beehive hairdo to a nationally recognized festival. This festival covers four city blocks on Hampden’s famous 36th Street. Each year the crowd gets bigger as people from not only our city but our region and even nation flock to the streets of Hampden to celebrate the Baltimore heritage and experience that make it unique.

MAKE IT A DAY

Grab your best girls and make a day of it! The HonFest features over 36 artists live on three separate stages and you can bring your dancing shoes to celebrate! There are always plenty of vendors open with plenty of food to satisfy your appetite. Hampden is full of locally owned shops you can’t find elsewhere so the shopping is great. Come out for “Bawlmer’s Best Time, Hon!” It is the 23rd HonFest so it is sure to be a hoot and it is FREE.

BE CREATIVE

Design your own sixties beehive and put on that poodle skirt! Get into the spirit of Hon by dressing up sixties glam and enter the contest to maybe win the best hairstyle. You don’t want to miss this fun time with your friends and the other in Baltimore on June 10th and 11th.
